Strawberry Nutrition Facts and Strawberry Pops Recipe
One of the reasons I love late spring and early summer is because of the berries. I love all berries; raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, but most of all strawberries. Even as a small child I always loved "stlawbellies and cream." Strawberries are good source of nutrition and are good for you; they have anti-oxidant qualities that are said to fight cancer and they are extremely high in Vitamin C.
Strawberries are also one of the most versatile of all berries and can be served in many ways. Strawberry shortcake is a favorite dessert of mine. It is best when made with homemade biscuits and clotted cream, however, it is also great with slice of angel food cake and vanilla yoghurt; as long as it has strawberries in it that is all that matters.

The Versatile Strawberry
One way I like to eat strawberries is to slice them, throw them in a bowl, sprinkle them with a little sugar and cover them with custard. I was brought up in the UK so I just love Bird's custard powder. All you do is add milk and sugar and bring it to a boil. It takes a few minutes to thicken and it's ready for eating. It can be served hot or cold.
Of course, you can also eat strawberries as they come, just remember to wash them thoroughly. Strawberries have a lot of water so it's easy to make a strawberry sauce. Put strawberries in a pan, add some sugar and a little water and heat; that is all that is needed. You can either puree them or just mash them, it all depends on how smooth you want your sauce to be.
How to Clean Strawberries
Dip the strawberries in cold water and swish them around. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Remove the leaves and stem either by hand or with a paring knife.

I was trying to think of how to use up some strawberries before they went off. I was also craving something cold because the temperature was close to 90 degrees and I needed to cool off. I had the smart idea to make these. I wasn't sure they would turn out but I was pleasantly surprised when they did. I'm sure you'll enjoy these too.
